| Begging over ooc or tells seems to be happening more and more to me. Whilst learning players often handed me pieces of armour or a weapon and it was gratefully received but I never asked for this. I have recently received tells from players who obviously know how to play due to the rapid communication skills (it took me an age to work out all the buttons) these tells are begging for money or equipment - so I give a little why not I don't need horns of beast or a wooden shield these goods are worth little to me now. But when I think back most of my equipment in the early days was earnt through quests or damn hard work and although I have given and still do to be honest part of me wants to tell these guys to get lost and earn the goods they want. Is there a perceived etiquette to this? Is it to be frowned upon? |

Is it to be frowned upon? I almost never give to beggers, but I recently went to GFay to clear out the old gear from the banks of all my characters and there were almost no takers for the low end stuff. Either they were too proud to come get it or it is too low end even for level 1s now. The few people that did come even turned their noses up or gave me a load of cheek about the items I offered them! A couple of years ago there would have been a mad scrabble for anything :/ -RedFox |

I tell them to piss off. bet you 100pp that within a day or so, that character that you just dropped gear and cash on will be deleted, your item up in the bazaar and them at it again with a new character. IF, by some miracle they roleplay a need, and aren't asking for the world (please sir, can you spare a few gold so a young cleric can buy his first level spells?) I'll be happy to help them...or best yet is to hit the newbie yards. watch who is doing what...if you see a character looting every single kill, and the corpse disappearing and they look gearless, I'll engage them in a bit of conversation and ususally hand them a few plat or an item I recently looted but have no use for. But the ones who are just killing everything and not bothering to loot - you know they are either twinked to hell already or have a fat bankroll on onother account/character. there's a difference between beggars and the needy. Beggars don't usually (99% of the time) need it, but the needy.... |

(note, there are options in the /lfg tool to prevent ignored people showing up in there, too) This simple combination, applied assiduously, will effectively put you in a begger free world. |
