There aren't any. They are exactly the same.

Except for one is made by Microsoft and the other by Bioware. NWN is based
on the 3rd Edition D&D whilst the other is not. NWN has much more
possibilites in creating your own world than the other.

The best way is to check the Microsoft site for DS and the Bioware site for
NWN and see the differences yourself.

I have played both, but NWN IMHO was much better where DS was more of a hack
and slash fest, so it depends on what you playing style is.

Not to mention that DS has a true 3D terrain were as NWN only does
Projection maps and as for creating your own stuff in DS you can code your
own DLL's of functions which is far better than NWN where you are stuck with
the basic rules of the game. However I prefer the fact that NWN is based on
the proper rules, it makes it a little more fun, but DS would be better is
someone did a HUGE mod for it that isn't just the usual lame little
extension to the OC.

The Party system in DS is FAR better than NWN with a familiar and a henchman
in NWN or a whole bunch of party members in DS that you can control the AI
and inventories of, and even control them indevidually, where as NWN your
stupid henchman does what he wants (okay, that's more realistic) and can
sometimes get you in heaps of trouble.

I finished the OC of NWN and am currently working through the OC of DS and I
see that the DS Gfx engine is far superior but NWN combat rules are better.
meanwhile, I'd never uninstall NWN but I can see myself getting bored of DS
if I don't get into modding soon
