My druid is solo leveling using feral. It helps emphasize the quick dps of catform and the occasional tank in bear/dire bear. I play him about once a week to use up his rested and he will hit 60 with about 9 days /played. I may swap to resto at 60, but may just stay dps and try to get some good feral drops. Prowl is the same thing as stealth as far as I can tell. Too bad there is no such thing as Druid Vanish or Distract, or pickpocket for that matter. But you'll use Cat form the most while levelling up. So 100% Feral tree makes a ton of sense, along with Tiger/Monkey gear. Basically you're playing like a Rogue. Caster form isn't bad. With a small mana pool and your own healing spells you're better off with Owl gear than Eagle, and using Bear form to stall for time while your mana re-gens if necessary. But this is definitely slower and more complicated even if you spec for it. Druids are not as good at nuking as Warlocks, Mages, Priests or even I dare say Shamen. Especially since good +Spell Dmg gear is non-existent until later in the game. 2) Druid stealth is exactly the same as Rogue stealth. You even have almost identical attacks... Same type of openning and finishing moves, just named differently. The main difference though is that the weapons don't contribute to your damage as much as with a Rogue. You're not gimped in Cat form, but you're not as tweakable either. For example, you won't be dual weilding 2 Assassin's Blades at L19 with Crusader and Icy Weapon. In fact, the best Druid weapons are only useful for their stats, like the Warden Staff or Unyielding Maul. Hope that helps. |

Druids also make good anti-rogues, because they can track humanoids while stealthed, and hit rogues with Faerie Fire to prevent them from vanishing. But that's PvP. --- Merlyn LeRoy |
