Default Ivus the Forest Lord

I was in an AV that turtled last night. I decided to try out some
of the 'obsolete' gathering quests. I started picking up items
from Horde as they died, and after about half a dozen, trinketed
back to Dun Baldar, and started handing them in.

I got the reinforcements upgraded pretty quick, and then
went to the Druids. Got them *most* of the Storm
Crystals they wanted, but not enough.

Talked to the Quartermaster in the south tower. Lots
of items, but he didn't seem to be handing out quests.
Went to the mine. We had captured it, and I was
looking for Irondeep supplies. Plenty of crates around,
none lootable, even though I cleaned out the remaining
troggs - is this quest available only once per capture?
Once per AV?

Anyway, the Horde were all bottled up south of IBGY,
and Alliance was way ahead on reinforcements.
Decided to head down there and get some more crystals.
As I do, the word goes out that the Druids were on their
way.

There was no Horde presence, so they arrived at the
field of strife unmolested, and calls go out to come
north and help with the summoning. Most of the players
had no idea what was going on. The older ones were
overjoyed 'Pure pre-BC goodness!', etc.

Well, we summoned him. People were taking screenshots
of this rare event.

Then, very, very little happened. Ivus tromped around the
Field of Strife for quite some time. Finally, he started to
move south, and we all cheer. He gets to IBGY and kills
a single Horde who is trying to ninja the GY. We expected
him to head south and kick ass.

But.... all he does is go back to the FoS and walk around.
The game finished (on points) soon after that, after 45
minutes.

What is his usual behaviour? He seemed pretty useless.

I'm doing the quests partially out of curiosity, but mostly
to build IF and GE rep. I only do them when the game
turtles.

He patrols around FoS for some time before moving towards Horde base.
If the game took longer he eventually would go to Frostwolf.

I don't remember about Ivus, but Lokholar the Ice lord stay in the field of
strife a moment, and then go north, killing alliance on the way, and growing.
He cross the bridge and stop in front of the room Vanndar Stormpike.

Ivus should have the same behaviour, it's very strange that he went back to
FoS. Maybe a bug ?

Next time my guild have a PVP event, I'll try to convince them to go to AV
and summon Lokholar. Thanks for the idea.

I kind of wish that AV lasted longer more often so that the quests
became relevant again. It's should be a stategic battle not a 20
minute rush for honour.

In my battlegroup, I'd say it turtles about 1/3 the time. When it
doesn't turtle, its not a '20 minute rush'. Its an '11 minute rush'.

He stays leashed to the field of strife for a time. It's been a while, but
I think he beats on anything in there for about 5 minutes, and then goes
into B-line mode for the base. *

Maybe its been so long since someone summoned him that he forgot what
he was supposed to do.

I've only seen a summons once and it was like a 1 hour + turtle with
both sides just entering TBC with Tier 3 decked players on both sides

he stands around for quite a long time in that crater ... then slowly
moves down and kills people in his path ... he moves towards the horde
base but I don't believe he'll enter the actual base

he should either end up in the horde village or just around the
outside of Drek

he won't enter the room of course but he does pat slowly and might
even be led backwards if he sees a target

I believe that you simply were in a game that ended just before he was
making his way to the Horde base

it's very rare to see a summons and even as of now .. i'd consider it
quite an event to see him summoned as most games end so fast you don't
even know what's really going on

Another question about AV.

A few months ago I saw a dragon flying around throwing fireballs to the
ground just before the bridge to DB. According to the link above there
is no summonable dragon. Anyway we managed to kill it and I remember it
had around 60-80K hitpoints. The fireballs did n pecial damage and we
were just a handful of ranged chars picking it down.

So can anybody tell me how that dragon ended there and how it got
summoned?

By rescuing the air commander from the enemy tower, he runs all the way
back to base, and then handing in enough tokens for him to start an air
strike.

Eventually, he'll go right into the central building and beat on Drek.
He does it to the exclusion of almost anything else, so this is where you
have a chance for a small group to kill him off. *

Pre-BC, his usual behavior was to get kited and killed by horde within 5
minutes of getting summoned.
